Create and edit graphics and digital photos with this world class open source graphic editing tool.
In today's graphic intensive world, having a decent, full featured editor is a must. Many top of the line packages come with the features everyone wants, and unfortunately, with the price tag to go with it. This is one of the reasons why I like GIMP. It’s a full featured, multi-platform graphics editor; and its totally awesome.
Is now WORKING in GIMP 2.10.20. (They did NOT work in GIMP 2.10,16 or 2.10.18) For those who are interested, the support files I tested with are: babl-0.1.78 gegl-0.4.24 gtk+2-2.24.32 libmypaint-1.6.1 Tested on the GIMP-2.10.20 Further details are below. As the GIMP advances its codebase, many scripts become deprecated and/or no longer work.
GIMP is the image editing tool of choice for many users, in large part due to its many editing tools. It's more common tools include a paint brush, pencil, airbrush, eraser and ink tools. You can use them to create new or blended pixels. Tools such as the bucket fill and blend tools are used to change large regions of space in an image and can be used to help blend images.
GIMP also has a selection of smart tools. These use a more complex algorithm to enable a user to complete time consuming or difficult tasks, and include the clone tool that copies pixels using a brush, and the healing brush which copies pixels from an area and corrects the tone and color where it is being used. The perspective clone tool works in a similar way to the clone tool, but also allows a user to alter and correct distance changes. The blur and sharpen tool is a brush that blurs and sharpens sections of an image; and the dodge and burn tool is a brush that makes target pixels lighter (dodges) or darker (burns).
An image being edited in GIMP can consist of many layers. Each layer in an image is made up of several channels. In an RGB image there are normally 3 or 4 channels, consisting of a red, green and blue channel. Color sub-layers look like slightly different gray images, but when put together they make a complete image. The fourth channel that may be part of a layer is the alpha channel (or layer mask), this channel measures opacity where a whole or part of an image can be completely visible, partially visible or invisible.
If we'd just had installs of full GIMP 32-bit and GIMP 64-bit, the install size would be a whopping 1.79GB. But, thanks to some creative file movements of the shared pieces between the two versions, the actual install size is shrunk to 1.34GB, only about 190MB larger than a 64-bit only package. GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc. GIMP is expandable. GIMP is a graphics editor and stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program. The software is used for image retouching and editing, Image format conversion and much more. It is known for a very high and professional image editing task. The tool is absolutely free and open source. Here I have a list of 11 Best GIMP Plugins that will improve your.
GIMP has several ways of selecting colors including palettes, color choosers and using an eyedropper tool to select a color on the canvas. The built-in color choosers include RGB/HSV selector or scales, water-color selector, CMYK selector and a color-wheel selector. Colors in GIMP can also be selected using hexadecimal color codes as used in HTML color selection; and it has native support for indexed color and RGB color spaces. Other color spaces are supported using decomposition where each channel of the new color space becomes a black and white image. CMYK, LAB and HSV (hue, saturation, value) are supported this way. GIMP does color blending through its blend tool. You apply a gradient to the surface of an image using GIMP's color modes. Gradients can also be integrated into tools such as the brush tool. When the user paints this way, the output color slowly changes.
Pros: Free, advanced image editing.
Cons: Advanced features require knowledge of graphic arts and advanced editing techniques to take full advantage of.
Conclusion: GIMP is an advanced image editing tool on par with Photoshop and other expensive, best of class graphic editing tools. The best thing about it is that its powerful and its free. You're going to need to understand multi-layered imaging, masks and color channels to take full advantage of the tool.
Scripts that work in GIMP-2.10.20
Tested on the GIMP-2.10.20 Further details are below... As the GIMP advances its codebase, many scripts become deprecated and/or no longer work. They pop up errors or do not run at all -- their code needs to be updated to keep up with the GIMP. Since I 'need' the plug-ins, I often update the scripts to keep them working. Below the screenshot are the ReadMe and the Downloads Pages dedicated to individual scripts (with screenshots and direct download) are available in Script Information Section Here's some history of and progress on this project. And of course I am more than willing to take a peek at other's work... So far I've gotten help and code contributions from: Floyd L. Most were originally created for GIMP-2.4, but things continue to evolve and break scripts... so on I go. If a script I wrote or played with gives me errors in use, I get them running and include them in the scripts package. I am not the original author for most of these scripts, but I believe they all let you redistribute (GPL-like).
So use them, pass them around or make them better. Enjoy. It's all good. -------------------------- Paul Sherman [email protected] Gimp 32 Bit Chip ToolGimp 32 Bit Chip Crack
I started doing this just after the release of GIMP-2.4 and I think I keep pace pretty well, sort of out of necessity because I use the GIMP and many of the scripts every day. (I do wpclipart.com) I run the latest GIMP on Absolute Linux. I occasionally check the scripts on Windows -- but I really rely upon feedback from Windows users if anything is amiss. So do not hesitate to email me at [email protected] if you spot an error or have some suggestion. The gimpfx-foundry project has built on my first package, made improvements to some and added others . . . but I was put off a bit by their naming convention, the use of a separate menu item for the scripts, and the fact that they emailed me about their project, asking if I wanted to help out, several weeks after I made updated scripts available on this site. Granted, they did a lot of work on their own, too, but I felt a little miffed. Perhaps unjustly... Gimp 32 Bit ChipsetIn my free time I have made some batch scripts in Python which I will soon make available separately, and I have also been asked to impliment a preview for some scripts. I'm hacking this out and have one posted on this site -- but it is written in Python and I am not sure how happy with the functionality folks who have tried it have been -- any feedback would be appreciated. For the regular SCRIPT-FUs (non-Python), I do not believe a preview window is possible. Comments are closed.
